Nicoz
Nicoz Balboa was born in Rome.
she graduated at the I.E.D.(European institut of design) of Rome and did a 3 month stage at the E.S.A.G. of Paris.
in 1996 she starts to self-produce her comics with some fanzines called Catholic Girls, Caccapiscia and she went on during the years with several minibooks as Cuoricini, Pochi Intimi, Axe Rouge, Maison, Adesivi, Njcoz's Girls.
in 2005 she publishes her first solo comic-album "Nicozrama" with the Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza and in 2008 she publishes another solo comick-book named "les larmes de crocodile" for the french publisher "DIANTRE!"
she partecipates to lots of collective exhibitions as "micropop nipposuggestioni" and "beautiful dreamers" at the Angel Art Gallery of Milan with ( Ana Bagayan, Marcel Dzama, Greg Gossel, Alex Gross, Kukula, Takashi Murakami, Aya Takano and others),"sweet street" at Gallery Nucleus of Los Angeles, "whaleless" at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin and in London, "don't say motherfucker, motherfucker" at the MFGallery of New York, "Knock your socks off" at the Head Quarters Gallery of Montreal, Dirty Show" in Detroit, "immigrant punk" at Black Maria Gallery of Los Angeles, " SKULLS OF ROME" in Rome organized by publisher DRAGO, "Pop Invaders" and "Money-Lisa" at Mondo POP gallery in Rome, "italian pop surrealism" at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome, "AMBASSADORS OF THE OTHERWORDLY (with Mark Ryden, Junko Mizuno, Michael Hussar, Camilla d'Errico, Jennybird Alcantara, Andy Kehoe, Gary Taxali, Luciano Civettini) at Rue De Beauce gallery in Paris.
she did also few personal exhibitions; in Paris at Rue De Beauce gallery (double solo show called "a dream within a dream" with french artist Ciou), in New York City at MF gallery (3 women solo show with japanese Aya Kakeda and american Angie Mason), in Berlin at Cell 63 gallery (show called "animal wisdom") and in Bari atFabrica Fluxus gallery (called "magical mystery wood").
her comics, artworks and illustrations appeared also on magazines as the french Target Magazine, RUGGED (the Carhart magazine), KULT magazine, Stripburger, the spanish LOOK DE BOOK or as a PDF solo comic-album onelectrocomics.com named LUNATICA curated by german comic autor Ulli Lust. such magazines as Slow Food interwieved her, the art-site juxtapoz.com and frizzifrizzi.it made and online article about her.illustrationmundo.com and the italian slap-press.com refered her website.
she've realized a 2minutes cartoon with the french group Le dernier Cri for the film "les religions sauvages".she often work for rock bands doin' rock-posters ( Unsane, Motorama, the Normals, the Intellectuals, Bloody Hollies, the Smackdown, Gipsy Rufina, Pasta & Patate etc...).
she's a shy tattooer andshe has a cute and smart daughter and her new passion is to draw daily on a moleskine agenda (she calls it "MOMeskine) and putting all that on a blog.
